El nucleo surge como proyecto de la Asociación El Picón para ofrecer un espacio virtual de encuentro entre artistas. Un web-site orientado a la difusión de la obra artística y cultural en la isla de Lanzarote. El centro de una red desde donde poder conocer y acceder a la realidad artística insular.

A partir del trabajo de los miembros del Picón, diversos colectivos, artístas e  instituciones han apoyado esta iniciativa mediante la cuál no solo se ha plasmado la actual web que esta usted visitando, sino que además se han desarrollado diferentes actividades artísticas y culturales. Actualmente el nucleo lo forman diferentes artístas y colectivos que se reunen para desarrollar proyectos colectivos.
